Frequently Asked Questions

Because we get a lot of questions, we’ve taken the time to answer them here! If you don’t see your question, leave a comment!

General Questions

Q: What’s a “forney”?

A: Forney is the combination of our last names, Ford and Keaney. It was coined by our football teammates and has stuck as a reference to all things Chris and Elizabeth.

Q: So you’re not both changing your last names when you get married?

A: Nope!

Q: So if you’re not both changing your names to Forney, is one of you changing your name after the wedding?

A: Yes, but we can’t decide if it should be Chris Ford or Elizabeth Keaney. Thoughts? (Just kidding! Chris doesn’t want to be a Ford for some-odd reason.)

Q: So why the online save the date? Is that what the kids are doing nowadays? I want something I can put on my fridge!

A: While we don’t feel we have to justify our decisions to you, we decided to go with a paperless save the date for a multitude of reasons. That said, we do have paper copies, which were mailed to people whose email addresses we did not have, so let us know if you’re dying to stick one on your fridge and we’ll send it your way.

Wedding Weekend

Q: Driftwood? Where in the world is that?

A: Driftwood is a town in the hill country of Texas, just 20 minutes south of downtown Austin. If you make the long trek to Austin, we’ll take care of the short trip out to Driftwood, because we’re nice like that.

Q: Where do I have to be and when?

A: The shuttle for all guests will leave the Omni at 4:30pm on Saturday, April 5. This will get guests to Stonehouse Villa in time for the wedding to begin at 5.

Q: I hate shuttles, can I drive myself?

A: If you insist. Please take our shuttle survey too, so we get the right number of busses.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Well, without knowing your coloring and body type, it’s hard to make good recommendations, but cocktail attire would be awesome. Chris will be wearing a suit and Elizabeth will be in the white dress. It would be awkward if you showed up in the same dress.

Q: Can I bring a date?

A: Yes you can! You’re invited with a plus one, but please don’t bring someone rude. We don’t like rude people.

Austin

Q: Why Austin?

A: It’s more tourist friendly than Houston, where Elizabeth grew up, more original than LA, where Chris grew up, and much cheaper than New York, where they live now.

Q: Are there things to do in Austin?

A: Are there ever! The Omni is right in downtown, near many stores, restaurants, and bars. Check the “All About Austin” page for more info!

Q: Will I need to rent a car?

A: That depends on your style. The hotel is in downtown and is walkable (or a short cab ride) to many fun things to do, see, and eat (our favorite kind of trip), so you can definitely make a weekend of it in downtown alone. If you want to see the Hill Country (including Texas wine country!), San Antonio (home of Katy Zentner, the Alamo, and fabulous tacos), or more of Austin, a car would be best. Important note: we do recommend renting a car outside of the airport because of the significant airport tax. Check Zipcar or Car2Go for short term rental options, or any of the standard companies will have cars available downtown.
